Day 201- Jimmy P (Franco/American)

"Jimmy P. stars Benicio del Toro as the titular character, Jimmy Picard, a Blackfoot Indian who has returned from war with debilitating symptoms. Mathieu Amalric, who has appeared in most of Arnaud Desplechin’s films, plays George Devereux, a French doctor of Hungarian Jewish background, who specializes in ethnology and psycho analysis. Jimmy P. was shot in Michigan and Montana, and is primarily based on a book by George Devereux , “Reality and dream: Psychotherapy of a Plains Indian” (New York: International Univ. Press, 1951). The film is about some of the pioneering days of psychoanalysis"

A truly wonderful work that makes you want to get deeper into the mind. Benicio Del Toro is amazing in this film, it leaves me speechless that he didn't receive an award nomination for this film. He is a truly interesting actor once he is given the chance to be. I enjoyed his acting while playing Jimmy Picard during a time when America wasn't truly at its social best with its own people. Mathieu Amalric is a very interesting actor as well. This is the first film I've seen him in but I would like to more of his movies. His portrayal of George Devereux was truly interesting and made you believe he was the really deal. I would suggest this film to psychology fans.
