Day 199 - The Kings Speech (british)

"Colin Firth plays King George VI who, to cope with a stammer, sees Lionel Logue, an Australian speech and language therapist played by Geoffrey Rush. The men become friends as they work together, and after his brother abdicates the throne, the new King relies on Logue to help him make his first wartime radio broadcast on Britain's declaration of war on Germany in 1939."-wiki

Truly a masterpiece, Colin Firth and Geoffrey Rush were on par with each other. The film was so interesting, they showed more of the human side of kings and the royal family. It was kind of interesting to see Queen Elizabeth II's father especially since I've been alive she has been the only monarch of England. Colin Firth portrayed the King very well, from the time he was a prince until the time he rose to become the last king of England (for right time). He played the king with all of his heart and had me believing in the character. While Geoffrey Rush was also truly wonderful in this film as Lionel Logue. The film is well balanced by showing the growth of both lead characters without leaning too much on one side. The film might be too slow for others especially for Americans since we are used to fast paced movies nowadays. But this film felt just right to me, not too slow nor too fast. It kept me interested the whole time. Also Helena Bonham Carter's role was smaller than the others but she was so superb making me laugh a few times.  I suggest this film to anyone that wants a film that has heart.

3.9/5
