Day 210 - The Executioner (Korean)

"The first execution will occur in over 12 years at a Korean prison. A delicate atmosphere takes over the prison ...."

A wonderful piece of cinema that reminded me of The Green Mile without the supernatural elements of course. This film has heart which is hard to find, you feel for these small cast of men who have one of the most stressful jobs. There is of course the side stories which need improvement but I enjoyed the movie still. Both Cho Jae-Hyun and Yoon Kye-Sang did a truly wonderful job with this film! I salute the director as well, he knew what he was doing but he needs a little more experience.

Day 209 - City of God (Brazilian)

"Chickens are being prepared for a meal when a chicken escapes and an armed gang chases after it in a favela called the Cidade de Deus ("City of God"). The chicken stops between the gang and a young man named Rocket (Buscapé), who believes that the gang wants to kill him. A flashback traces Rocket, the narrator, back to the 1960s"

Such a boring film! The whole time I was just hoping to get through it in one shot. I don't know why this film is such a hit with everyone else. Its totally crap to me, all the actors had no charisma so it wasn't fun to see them at all. I have to say that the characters were well developed and had a good standing. I have a problem with the story since it was so boring and predictable. Plus I hate the character of Angelica, she was the simple girl next door who sleeps someone the main character gets close to and eventually loves that man over the main character. It happens all the time in crime/gangster films. I would suggest you skip this movie

Day 208 - Toxic Avenger Part 2 (American)

"Five years after the events of the original film, The Toxic Avenger (Ron Fazio) is lured to Tokyo, Japan by the evil corporation Apocalypse Inc. So while the Toxic Avenger is fighting crime in Tokyo, Apocalypse Inc. spreads evil in Tromaville and it is up to the famous hideously deformed superhero of superhuman size and strength to stop the abominable Apocalypse Inc. from attacking both Tokyo and Tromaville"

I enjoy films where Americans go to Japan and this film is no exception. I enjoyed the use of Japanese characters like sumo wrestlers and geisha they were fun to see. This was also Michael Jai White's first movie even if its a small role. I enjoyed this movie and I think it was able to do so well in japan is because of how the humor was used which is similar to a lot of Japanese comedy horrors movies that I have seen. I suggest this film to those that like horror comedies!

Day 207- Moss (korean)

"When Ryoo arrives in a remote rural village to settle the estate of his estranged father, he stumbles into a dark web of secrets and betrayals that have lain buried for thirty years. The village is ruled over by its sinister chief, Cheon, a former police detective, and his cabal of reformed criminals - who seem to have both hated and feared Ryoo’s late father. It quickly becomes clear that Ryoo’s presence is not wanted – and that Cheon and the others are hiding something terrible. Soon the unwelcome visitor finds his life threatened as the truth becomes ever more obscured and allegiances shift beneath his feet..."

A very good mystery film that will leave you on the edge of your seat. It is the best mystery film I have seen in a long time. It is also a very long film nearly 3 hours but it is worth it. Everyone in this film is great especially Park Hae-il and Jung Jae-young. But I didn't like Yoo Jun-sang's character or acting in this film since it was so poor. I don't really want to see him in another movie since I didn't like him at all. I do like Yoo Sun but she her character wasn't well written and kind of confusing. I hope to see her play better roles soon. I suggest this movie to anyone that likes mystery films.

Day 206 - Like Someone in Love (Japanese/french)

"
In Tokyo, sociology student Akiko (Rin Takanashi) moonlights as a high-end prostitute. Her jealous boyfriend, Noriaki (Ryō Kase) is suspicious, but does not know about her work.
One night, she is assigned to Takashi (Tadashi Okuno), an elderly former university professor who is more interested in making her dinner than having sex. The morning after their unconsummated night, Takashi drives Akiko to school for her exams. While waiting in the car for her, he encounters Noriaki, who assumes Takashi is her grandfather and asks permission to marry her. Takashi does not correct Noriaki's assumption and assures him he isn't ready for marriage."

A wonderful film that appears quite awkward but it screams of the modern age. At times it kind of tension pack while other times its loose and fun. There's a lot of talking so don't expect any sex or nudity at all. The film has true value in that way, it wouldn't have been as good if there was sex in the film. Rin Takanashi is such a beautiful and remarkable actress I've been a fan of hers since I saw you in Goth a year ago. I cant wait to see more films from her! Everyone in this film was great, I enjoyed watching their experiences. The chain that held everything together was Tadashi Okuno's performance which was superb. He really helped the film out by kind of being the central character. I suggest this film to those that like dramatic movies.

Day 205 - Two Lives (German)

"
It is based on an unpublished novel, Ice Ages, by German author Hannelore Hippe. (It has since been published.) She was inspired by reports in the late 1980s of the discovery of the half-burned body of a young woman near Bergen, and there was speculation as to her identity. This was just before the fall of the Berlin Wall and reunification of Germany.
The film gradually unravels the story of Katrine Evensen Myrdal (Kohler), a happily married woman with a grown daughter and granddaughter, and of her mother Ase Evensen (Ullmann). Katrine is known to have escaped from East Germany and made her way to Norway as a young woman to be reunited with her birth mother, Ase Evensen."

Didn't like it at all! It was boring and very predictable. I didn't even like the cast nor the characters in the film but I do like the subject matter. Though I don't like the execution of the plot because it was quite bland despite the subject matter.

Day 204 - The Croods (American)

"Eep is a cave girl whose family is part of the classification homo erectus living in the harsh environment of the stone age with her overprotective father Grug, her kind mother Ugga, her grandmother Gran and her younger siblings Thunk and Sandy. The only family around after their neighbors met unfortunate ends, Eep lives a sheltered life protected by her father until one night she sees a light outside of the cave. Defying Grug's rule about going out after dark she follows it and meets a neanderthal boy, an inventive idealist named Guy and his pet sloth Belt who introduces Eep to fire and explains that he is escaping what he calls "The End" saying that a great cataclysm is coming that could destroy Eep and her family. She refuses to go with him, but he gives her a shell to use as a horn if she needed him. Grug, looking for Eep eventually finds her and grounds her for breaking the rules. On their way back to the cave, a tremendous earthquake causes its destruction, revealing a tropical wilderness behind it. They are forced to escape into it when a predator attacks them, and Grug seeks out to find the family a new cave to live in."

Better than I thought it was going to be! I laughed at a few parts in the movie but sometimes it was boring. I could relate with the general storyline at times but sometimes it was very corny. This film features an all star cast like Emma Stone, Nicholas Cage, Cloris Leachman, Ryan Reynolds which totally helped the film. I enjoyed the characters of the baby, belt, and granny sometimes. To me they were very comedic tools that made the film fit together. I enjoyed everyone's performance but I wish the animation was a little better at some parts. This film still didn't make me a 3d animation fan either. I suggest this film to those that like 3d animation and dreamworks movies

Day 203- Fairy Tale Killer (Hong Kong)

"When a bloodied and incoherent Jun (Wang Baoqiang) confesses to five murders that have not occurred, the police assume that he's mentally unstable and ignore his claims. Police detective Han (Lau Ching-wan) is investigating a series of gruesome murders, but soon discovers that all is not as it seems and that not only are the murders connected, but that Jun is tied to them in some way."

I enjoyed this film a bit, it truly had a point that I really liked. I also like how autism is a big part of the storyline. Not enough people know what autism is. Wang Baoqiang did a great job as a detective and as a tired family man who has a son who has autism. I really enjoyed the twist at the very end, danny pang did a decent job with this film. I suggest Hong Kong horror fans watch this!

Day 202- Golden Chicken (Hong Kong)

"Kum (Sandra Ng) is a long time Hong-Kong prostitute, when she gets locked in a cash machine vestibule with a would be thief (Eric Tsang) she tells him some stories of her life as a prostitute and how she come to be where she is today."

I thought this was going to be a good comedy but I was wrong. Most of the time it was boring and very annoying. I enjoyed the small cameo of Andy Lau, who had the most interesting part in the film. Sandra Ng was okay but she really didn't interest me at all. I really don't like I will watch the sequel. I was also expecting a few dramatic scenes but those were barely passable as being dramatic in any degree. I would suggest you skip this film and its sequels unless you like corny films.

Day 201- Jimmy P (Franco/American)

"Jimmy P. stars Benicio del Toro as the titular character, Jimmy Picard, a Blackfoot Indian who has returned from war with debilitating symptoms. Mathieu Amalric, who has appeared in most of Arnaud Desplechin’s films, plays George Devereux, a French doctor of Hungarian Jewish background, who specializes in ethnology and psycho analysis. Jimmy P. was shot in Michigan and Montana, and is primarily based on a book by George Devereux , “Reality and dream: Psychotherapy of a Plains Indian” (New York: International Univ. Press, 1951). The film is about some of the pioneering days of psychoanalysis"

A truly wonderful work that makes you want to get deeper into the mind. Benicio Del Toro is amazing in this film, it leaves me speechless that he didn't receive an award nomination for this film. He is a truly interesting actor once he is given the chance to be. I enjoyed his acting while playing Jimmy Picard during a time when America wasn't truly at its social best with its own people. Mathieu Amalric is a very interesting actor as well. This is the first film I've seen him in but I would like to more of his movies. His portrayal of George Devereux was truly interesting and made you believe he was the really deal. I would suggest this film to psychology fans.

Day 200- Sunny (Korean)

"South Korean film about a middle-aged woman who tries to fulfill her friend's dying wish of reuniting their group of high school friends. The film alternates between two timelines: the present day where the women are middle-aged, and the 1980s when they were in high school."

Thought it was just a simple comedy drama that was going be corny but I was totally wrong. This film truly is heartfelt as we all can relate to this film once we get older. All the actresses were wonderful the younger and older ones. The younger days are filled with good times then later they become darker and sadder. In the present time it is boring then sad and lastly beautiful. This film made me truly feel something despite all the main characters being women. I still felt something from this film as will a lot of people. This is a very special film that might make others cry and change their lives too as the girls will eventually do.I suggest this film to people that like movies that make you feel.

Day 199 - The Kings Speech (british)

"Colin Firth plays King George VI who, to cope with a stammer, sees Lionel Logue, an Australian speech and language therapist played by Geoffrey Rush. The men become friends as they work together, and after his brother abdicates the throne, the new King relies on Logue to help him make his first wartime radio broadcast on Britain's declaration of war on Germany in 1939."-wiki

Truly a masterpiece, Colin Firth and Geoffrey Rush were on par with each other. The film was so interesting, they showed more of the human side of kings and the royal family. It was kind of interesting to see Queen Elizabeth II's father especially since I've been alive she has been the only monarch of England. Colin Firth portrayed the King very well, from the time he was a prince until the time he rose to become the last king of England (for right time). He played the king with all of his heart and had me believing in the character. While Geoffrey Rush was also truly wonderful in this film as Lionel Logue. The film is well balanced by showing the growth of both lead characters without leaning too much on one side. The film might be too slow for others especially for Americans since we are used to fast paced movies nowadays. But this film felt just right to me, not too slow nor too fast. It kept me interested the whole time. Also Helena Bonham Carter's role was smaller than the others but she was so superb making me laugh a few times.  I suggest this film to anyone that wants a film that has heart.

Day 198 - Sgt. Kabukiman N.Y.P.D. (American)

"The film follows Sergeant Detective Harry Griswold (Rick Gianasi), a clumsy N.Y.P.D. cop investigating a string of murders involving Kabuki actors. While attending an amateur Kabuki play, Harry witnesses thugs gun down the entire cast. In the ensuing gunfight, Harry is forcefully kissed by one of the dying actors, unknowingly becoming blessed with the powers of Kabuki. Before he knows it, Griswold finds out that he has the ability to transform into Kabukiman, a colorfully dressed slapstick superhero who has the ability to fly and access to such unique weapons as heat seeking chopsticks and fatal sushi. With the assistance of the beautiful Lotus (Susan Byun), he helps clean up the crime-ridden streets of New York and try to stop maniacal businessman Reginald Stuart (Bill Weeden) and his Goons, who plan to fulfill an ancient evil prophecy that will summon The Evil One which demonic powers and enslave the world.
"
Truly an interesting American comedy! Rick Gianasi is a corny actor but he fits so well with the character of Harry Griswold. I love Susan Byun who plays the beautiful Lotus, she was so interesting to watch and I wondered to myself "why haven't I seen her before?". She was beautiful slightly corny portraying the granddaughter of an old fashioned kabuki actor. The sex scene between the two characters was very interesting at times it looked like normal sex and some parts in the sex scene looked like a Japanese porno. Truly a decent corny comedy from the director of Toxic Avenger. I suggest this film to anyone that likes comedies and slightly corny films.

Day 197 - Kamikaze Girls (Japanese)

"The movie begins with a flash forward of Momoko getting hit by a car while driving a scooter, then shifts to the past to introduce her background and early life.
Momoko, who was born near Kobe, wishes that she had been born in Rococo-era France. Her father, a former small-time gangster, was involved in selling fake brand name clothing. After making a fake "double-brand" he finds himself in trouble with Universal Studios, Versace, and the mob, and so he and Momoko move to his mother's house in the rural town of Shimotsuma.
Momoko must go to Tokyo to shop for her clothes, but constantly finds herself short of money for the expensive trip and the pricey clothes she wants to buy. She decides to sell some of her father's fake Versace products, and meets Ichigo, who answers an advertisement she has placed about selling the clothes. Ichigo is a racy, boyish type who belongs to an all-girl bōsōzoku (motorcycle gang). Gradually, the unlikely pair become friends."

Not bad, it is my second favorite Japanese movie (With The Departures being the first). It was not as corny as I expected, I actually liked it a lot. I really enjoyed the story as well as Kyoko Fukada and sometimes Anna Tsuchiya too but I often was annoyed by Anna's voice in the movie. I might try to find the novel and read it. This movie is made for those that like Japanese comedies.

Day 196 - A Good Day to Die Hard (American)

"In Moscow, Viktor Chagarin (Sergei Kolesnikov), a high-ranking, but corrupt Russian official, plans on incriminating political prisoner, former billionaire and government whistleblower, Yuri Komarov (Sebastian Koch), without a fair trial when Komarov refuses to hand over a secret file believed to have convicting evidence against Chagarin. In a separate incident, Jack McClane (Jai Courtney) is arrested as a result of an assassination attempt but agrees to testify against Komarov for a shorter sentence. John McClane (Bruce Willis), who has not been in touch with his son for several years, learns of his son's actions and travels to Russia to help. When John finally arrives and approaches the courthouse that holds Komarov on trial, a bomb explosion orchestrated by Chagarin and his henchmen occurs in the courthouse, and Jack breaks free with Komarov. Seeing his son, John confronts him, but their dispute is cut short when Chagarin's henchmen, led by Alik (Radivoje Bukvić), chases them in a Ural Typhoon MRAP on the streets of Moscow. John and Komarov manage to escape."

The plot was too simple and I'm quite sad to see that the series has fallen from grace. First off I don't really like the choice of actor for John McClane Jr. I felt like he didn't have enough experience for the role. The twists in this film were predictable as well as boring and the action was quite tame. This film is no where as dead as the old Die Hards. Plus John Moore is not a good director who has only made very shitty action movies. The screenwriter Skip Woods also isn't good at his job, he wrote the films Hitman,THe A-Team, and a few other films. With Woods and Moore at the helm this film was doom from the start sadly. I suggest you skip this film

Day 195 - Zebraman 2: Attack on Zebra City (Japanese)

"By 2025, fifteen years after the events of Zebraman, Tokyo has renamed itself Zebra City, and has instituted a "Zebra Time" starting at 5:00 AM/PM for 5 minutes in which the government allows the Zebra Police to attack any and all presumed criminals. One Zebra Time results in the attempted murder of Shinichi Ichikawa, also known as Zebraman. Surviving the attack but having lost his memories, he must team up with television's fake Zebraman and a young protégé to save a mysterious little girl from Zebra Queen and her Zebra Police, and then the world from Zebra Queen's ultimate plan to use the strange aliens from 2010 to bring Zebra Time to the whole world."

A lot less corny than I thought it would be! Riisa Naka is such a wonderful actress and she is very beautiful. Her character as a Zebra Queen was the best character in the film. She is the main reason why I kept watching the film. I'm not the biggest Takashi Mike but he did a decent job on this film. I will suggest this film to anyone that has seen a Japanese movie before.

Day 194 - Invisible Waves (Thai)

"Kyoji is a cook living in Macau. He works for a Thai restaurant in Hong Kong and has been having an affair with Seiko, the wife of his boss, Wiwat, who orders Kyoji to poison her. After the deed is done, Kyoji is ordered to leave Hong Kong. He consults with the mysterious Monk, who gives him money and advice to contact Lizard. Kyoji then boards a cruise ship, and is given a small, dreary cabin belowdecks, where nothing seems to work properly. In trying to find his way back topside, he gets lost. Finally, up on deck, he meets Noi. Noi has a baby named Nid, whom Kyoji finds hanging on the deck rail in a harness, where Noi left the child while she was swimming. Eventually, the ship reaches its destination, Phuket, Thailand, where real life-or-death adventures begin for Kyoji as he starts to put the pieces together about what he's done.'-wiki

A sad and boring film that leave you wanting a better movie. Most of the film is quite boring even some of the more dramatic scenes are dull. The script is not well written and it is easy to see all the holes in the film. This film had no feeling in it, it was like it was drifting along until the end and even that was poorly done. I suggest you skip this Thai film!

Day 193 - KT (Japanese/South Korean)

"The story is centered on Masuo Tomita, a Japanese intelligence officer who helped arrange for South Korean agents to kidnap and try to kill Park Chung-hee's enemy Kim Dae-jung, who was in exile in Tokyo. Tomita went along with the plan to save a South Korean teacher Lee Jeong-mi, whom he loved."

Poorly executed film that lost me towards the second half of the film. It is quite boring without real depth and good acting. I cite poor direction as the cause of the films execution since this film's historical inspiration was very interesting while the movie wasn't.

Day 192 - Badges of Fury(Chinese/Hong Kong)

"In just 3 days, three cases of Smiling Murder shock Hong Kong. As he looks into the homicide, the young detective Wang Bu Er (Wen Zhang), the police station's reckless buffoon, makes a shocking statement that this is a serial murder.
He and his buddy Huang Fei Hong (Jet Li) embarks on an investigation full of excitement and unexpected events. Huang may appear to be no less muddle-headed than Wang, but in reality, he is the real master of kung fu, and would, without fail, at the most crucial moments, help Wang get out of sticky situations.
Wang initially believes that budding actress Liu Jin Shui (Liu Shishi) is the prime suspect, but later, she is found to be innocent. Next, he shifts his focus on her sister Dai Yiyi (Ada Liu), among others. Eventually, Wang decides to pose as Liui's boyfriend to lure out the murderer. The closer he gets to the truth, the greater the danger he is in."

Funny at times but corny most of the time. I enjoyed Jet Li in the film as he not serious even though he is using martial arts in the film. Wen Zhang bugged me for some reason, he was the least likeable character in the movie. Liu Shishi was also annoying as well but she had her good moments.
Liu Yan was very interesting as she was beautiful in this film (damn!). I suggest this film to those that like action comedies and someone not looking for a major romantic plot.

Day 191 - Slice (Thai)

"A serial killer is preying on the rich and influential, exposing their sexual proclivities, dismembering them and dumping them and their severed body parts in various locations around Thailand. The police officer on the case is not even close to finding the killer, but given an ultimatum to solve it in 15 days, Papa Chin (Chatchai Plenpanich) turns to the one man he doesn't want to use -- an imprisoned hitman named Tai (Arak Amornsupasiri), who thinks the killer is a friend of his from childhood. Tai let out of prison while his girlfriend Noi is kept under close watch by Chin. Tai heads back to his hometown to search for clues about where his old friend might be. As he recalls his childhood and friendship with the troubled boy Nut, the events of the present day crystallize until Tai is confronted with a shocking reality"

A very creepy type of horror movie that you might want to leave alone. There's a lot of messed up events in the film that might make you question humanity and how far ones mental state can be stretched until it snaps. Tai is a somewhat interesting character but he's not written to be an exciting or interesting character which leaves you not caring what happens to him. The plot is simple but in a very bad way that leaves a lot of unanswered questions. Now the woman who play Noi, Jessica Pasaphan, was a first time actress and it was kind of hard to believe that. Jessica was no hands down the best actor in the whole movie and I hope I can see her in more movies. I suggest that everyone skips this horror movie

Day 190 - Key of Life (Japanese)

"Sakurai (Masato Sakai) is an aspiring actor who becomes frustrated with his life. Sakurai then decides to kill himself, but before committing suicide Sakurai heads off to a public bathhouse. At the bathhouse, Sakurai then witnesses a man named Kondo (Teruyuki Kagawa) collapse and lose his memory in front of Sakurai. On a sudden whim, Sakurai switches locker keys with Kondo and pretends to be Kondo. Sakurai soon finds himself in trouble with the yakuza ... "

Key of Life has a very nice concept but poor execution. This film also features the beautiful Ryoko Hirosue who starred in Wasabi and The Depatures. She is a wonderful actress with an upright personality that you can't help but fall in love with her characters. She plays a cold/clueless woman in this film that declares she wants to get married but doesn't know to whom. Her appearance is the best thing about the film other than I didn't really like it. It was slow in a bad way with no one surprises or thrilling sequences.

Day 189 - The World of Silence (Korean)

"Jung-Ho (Kim Sang-Kyung), a famous photographer who has a special ability to read people’s minds, has just returned to Korea from abroad. Jung-Ho still can’t get rid of traumatic memories of his late girlfriend who ended her life in front of him. In the midst of this, Jung-Ho becomes a temporary guardian for Soo-Yeon (Han Bo-Bae), a little girl whose mother is in a coma. Detective Kim (Park Yong-Woo) begins to suspect Jung-Ho is involved in the gruesome events that surround him. And the case becomes even more desperate when Soo-Yeon herself disappears. "

A truly compelling thriller that might touch your heart if your the right kind of person. This film has many twists that might have you guessing who is the hero and who is the villain. This movie proves that everything has a cause and effect motion. This movie has true feeling present in the film and I have to thank the director and everything attached to this film for making it. Han Bo-Bae did a very great job as Soo-Yeon she truly was entertaining to watch. It was almost like she was the "light" in the film as she becomes the reason why Jung-Ho chooses to continue to live. Kim Sang-Kyung was also excellent, he shows emotion when he needs to and portrays an interesting character. Lastly Park Yong-Woo was also interesting to watch as a police detective but I wished that the character had more depth like the other characters. The direction was well enough that it kept me interesting like I stated earlier I wished that more of the characters had more depth. The script also could have been better and I think that the film would have been better if it was longer. I suggest this film to those that like thrilling movies.

Day 188 - Sympathy for Lady Vengeance (Korean)

"A Christian musical procession waits outside a prison for Lee Geum-ja (Lee Young-ae), a recently reformed female prisoner, who had been convicted of murdering a young schoolboy, Won-mo. The case, a national sensation because of her young age at the time of the murder and innocent appearance, earns her a lengthy prison sentence, reduced because of her apparent spiritual transformation in prison and her good conduct toward other inmates, results in the nickname of the "Kind-Hearted Geum-Ja". As Lee Geum-ja emerges from prison, she immediately sidesteps the procession, intent on revenge."

Lee Geum-ja was a truly interesting character, I enjoyed her grow as a character and to take her revenge. Choi-min sik was excellent as well as the bad guy, he appeared as the star in the second installment of the series with Lady Vengeance being the final film of the revenge trilogy. Lee Young-ae did a remarkable job as an actress in this film that I hope we can see her appear in another movie like this. I recommend this movie to old boy fans.

Day 187 - Ghostsweepers (Korean)

"The village of Uljinri has been plagued by evil for decades. When mysterious accidents and events keep happening without avail, shamans from all over the country gather to hold a shaman ritual, and Chan-young, a young newspaper reporter is sent to cover the story.
The group of shamans begins their grand ritual, but with the strange eerie force that dominates the entire village and repeated attacks by the spirits, most of the shamans run for their lives. Only the five best shamans remain: Teacher Park, the most famous "star fortune teller" who gets paid for performing exorcisms around the country; Monk Shim-in, who studied with him under the same master but is now telling sundry couple's fortunes around old Tabgol Park; Suk-hyun who has a doctorate in engineering and makes all kinds of demon-chasing equipment; a boy named Wol-kwang, who has the power to see into the near future; and Seung-hee who is skilled at tarot cards and can see the memories stored in all objects. Along with Chan-young, the six begin to explore the dark secrets of the village while preparing for the biggest battle against the evil forces"

A very nice supernatural comedy that was very enjoyable thanks to the wonderful cast and their bizarre characters. I happened to like all of the actors even the kid whose voice annoyed me. Everyone played their character well and made me like them. Each character has a specialty and their own back story as well as their own reasons for being on the job. Kim Su-ro is the head of this cast which is what first attracted me to this film since I enjoy watching him act. I kind of wish there was a sequel to the film. I suggest this film to anyone that likes supernatural comedies.

Day 186 - The Detective 2 (Hong Kong)

Bumbling private detective Chan Tam (Aaron Kwok) is enlisted by police pal Fung Chak (Liu Kai Chi) to help in the investigation of a serial murder case. The victims - a middle-aged man killed at home, a dead woman found in the trash dump, and a teenage girl slain in the park - were all killed in grisly manners, but they didn't seem related to each other. Without any clue to follow up on, Tam is decidedly at his wits' end. But when Chak is seriously wounded by a mysterious assailant, Tam deduces that the only way to uncover the truth is to get into the mind of the deranged killer, and in so doing he is forced to face a long-hidden side of himself..."-wiki

Despite the fact that is a film by Oxide Pang and stars Aaron Kwok this movie is incredibly boring. The detective isn't as interesting compared to Sherlock Holmes, batman, or hell even Criminal Minds is better. There's no real depth everything is rushed and nothing really helps you connect with the characters. This is a Hong Kong movie I hope you skip

Day 185 - Blue is the warmest color (French)

"Adèle is an introverted 15-year-old[18][19] high-school student whose classmates gossip constantly about boys. While crossing the street one day, she passes by a woman with short blue hair and is instantly attracted. She dates a boy at her school for a short while and they have sex, but she is ultimately dissatisfied and breaks off their relationship. After having vivid fantasies about the woman she saw on the street and having one of her female friends behave flirtatiously towards her, she becomes troubled about her sexual identity. One friend, the openly gay Valentin, seems to understand her confusion and takes her to a gay dance bar. After some time, Adèle leaves and walks into a lesbian bar, where she experiences assertive advances from some of the women. The blue haired woman is also there and intervenes, claiming Adèle is her cousin to those pursuing Adèle. The woman is Emma, a graduating art student. They become friends and begin to spend more time with each other. Adèle's friends suspect her of being a lesbian and ostracize her at school. Despite the backlash, she becomes very close to Emma. Their bond increases and before long, the two share a kiss at a picnic. They later make love and begin a passionate relationship. Emma's artsy family is very welcoming to the couple, but Adèle tells her conservative, working-class parents that Emma is just a tutor for philosophy class."

Not bad film its just not that good. The first sex scene between the girls was probably the best scene in the film other than that none of the other scenes affected me at all. The rest of the story really didn't grasp me as interesting. I suggest this movie to French movie fans

Day 184 - Confession of Murder (Korean)

"Choi Hyeong-goo (Jung Jae-young) is a detective who was in charge of hunting down a serial killer who claimed the lives of 10 women from 1986 to 1990, and whom Choi suspects is responsible for the kidnapping and possible murder of another. He managed to hunt down the killer, but lost him after a fierce fight that left Choi nearly dead and permanently scarred. Before the killer vanished however, Choi managed to shoot him in the shoulder.
The film begins in 2005, on the day the 15-year statute of limitations[5] expired, thus rendering prosecution impossible. Choi is now an alcoholic, haunted by his failure to solve the case. He suddenly receives a worrying call from Jung Hyun-sik (Ryoo Je-seung) a family member of one of the victims. Choi rushes to his apartment, only to see Jung throw himself off a roof and land through the windshield of a passing bus"

Truly wonderful thriller with top notch actor Jung Jae-young. This happens to be one of the best movies that I've seen Jung Jae-young star in. This film had well planned out twists that keep you on the edge of your seat. I enjoyed the so much and I can honestly say that it is the best thriller I've seen in a long time. I suggest this film to those that like thriller movies.

Day 183- 3 Days to Kill (French/American)

"Experienced CIA agent Ethan Renner works with a team to capture the Albino, lieutenant to an arms trafficker called the Wolf, as he is selling a dirty bomb to some terrorists. The Albino deduces the trap when he recognizes one of the agents, whom he kills. Renner is able to cripple the Albino by shooting him in the leg, but not capture him. Meanwhile, elite CIA assassin Vivi Delay, who has been personally assigned by the Director to kill the Wolf, monitors the operation and notices Renner has unknowingly seen the Wolf."

Not as bad as I expected! Kevin Costner is a great actor, he does great in the action and dramatic scenes. This film was written by Luc Besson which is one of the reasons why I chose to watch this film. I didn't like the family drama because it wasn't all that good due to the poor acting of the daughter and mother. Also Amanda Heard is horrible in this film, it is probably the second worst movie she's ever done. I will suggest this film to action thriller fans

Day 182 - Unbeatable (Hong Kong/Chinese)

"Ching Fai (Nick Cheung) is a former boxing champion who has struggled since his glory days, having gone to prison over involvement with the Triads due to financial problems and now working as a taxi driver. When Triad loan sharks torch his taxi and chase him down for money he owed, Fai decides to flee to Macau to avoid them.
In Macau, Fai accepts a job offer from an old friend to work as an assistant in a gym, while renting a room with a feisty young girl Peidan (Crystal Lee), who has been taking care of her psychologically unstable mother (Mei Ting) since her four-year-old son drowned and her husband left her for another woman. At the gym, Fai meets a young man, Lin Siqi (Eddie Peng) who wishes to learn Mixed Martial Arts in order to join an upcoming MMA tournament, the "Golden Rumble", which offers the winner millions of dollars - his motivation for doing so is to help out his father, a businessman who had recently lost a fortune due to a failed "flipping" deal, which has turned him into a depressed drunkard. Fai agrees."

A one in a kind sports film that will inspire you get off your a**. Nick Cheung is amazing in the film, "Ching Fai" is the best character I have seen him portray. For the first time I actually saw him smile since all of the other movies I've seen him in he's the bad guy that never smiles. In this film Ching Fai represents the old and Lin Si Qi represents the new. They bond together and inspire each other to be a better fighter and a better person. Even Crystal Lee and Mei Teng were amazing in this film. She may be young but Crystal Lee definitely has a future as an actress. I except big things from her when she grows up. I will suggest this film to those that like Sports movies that inspire you and have real depth.

Day 181 - Legendary Fist (Korean)

"A moment of bad luck derailed Deok-kyu's Olympic dreams and led him and his friends to jail. Jin-ho got out of jail quickly because of his rich parents, but Deok-kyu, Jae-seok, and Sang-hoon were not so lucky.
Years later, while running a noodle shop to earn extra money following an accident involving his daughter, Deok-kyu accepts an invitation to join a televised mixed martial arts tournament, Fists of Legend. A group of middle-aged men who used to be called "legends" during their teenage high school days take part in the "real action fighting" reality show, and the winner gets a prize of ₩20 million every round, for a total of ₩200 million (US$183,823). Among the contestants are Deok-kyu's old friends Sang-hoon, currently a manager at a large company who lacks in self-respect after getting passed over for a promotion, and Jae-seok, now a good-for-nothing guy who dreams of becoming a somebody.

Truly a remarkable film that has a ton of heart. Not only from the main character but from everyone in this film. I enjoyed the characters life outside the ring as much as I did when they were in the ring. The action scenes were stellar, I enjoyed them a lot. It felt really exciting to watch the fights and seem each character's fighting style change/improve each time I saw them. It was an inspiring movie and three times better than the movie "Crying Fist". With such a passionate actor like Hwang Jung-min its no wonder this movie is so great. He just makes you believe in his role and inspires you to enjoy the ride of the movie. The movie is 153 minutes long that's 2 hours + 23 minutes. It is definitely worth the time. I suggest this film to those that like real life movies, films that make you feel something. This is the best movie I've seen in a while!

Day 180 - Miss Go or Miss Conspirator (Korean)

"Chun Soo-ro is a timid, geeky cartoonist with constant panic attacks and has debilitating phobia of all forms of social interaction. In the past, she relied on her sister to help her, but her sister is now about to leave the country. At the Busan port terminal, where her sister just departed, Soo-ro suddenly suffers another panic attack. At this time, a nun approaches her and helps her take her medication. Later, the nun asks Soo-ro to deliver flowers and a cake to a man that the nun confesses she loves"

Failed to do anything that good, sure there were parts that were funny but the film disappointed especially since I loved the synopsis. The best thing about the film was the artwork the main character drew on the wall at some point. Other than that there's no real value to this film.

Day 179 - Girlfriends (Korean)

"29-year-old Song-yi (Kang Hye-jung) starts dating her handsome co-worker Jin-ho (Bae Soo-bin). But when she suspects Jin-ho might be cheating on her, she sets out to meet the "other woman," only to learn that he has not one, but two, other "girlfriends": Jin (Han Chae-young), Jin-ho's first love, is a sexy and successful party planner, while Bo-ra (Huh E-jae) is a fearless, young college student. On one hand, Song-yi wants to keep Jin-ho all to herself, but strangely enough, she grows close to the two other women and their similar taste in men becomes the basis of a great friendship."

A decent film with a very pessimistic undertone with a hint of realism. Song-yi wasn't the best main character, she wasn't that interesting as a person. Huh E-jae who played Bo-ra the college student was slightly annoying. Han Chae-young as jin was decent but still failed to make anything really good. Jin is a picture perfect example of the modern woman. Han Chae-young is the best actress in the film no hands down. Jin-Ho is a douche, he is not really interesting nor really that important. This film isn't great or good for that matter. It is a Korean film that I hope you pass up.
