"In 1593 London, William Shakespeare is a sometime player in the Lord Chamberlain's Men and poor playwright for Philip Henslowe, owner of The Rose Theatre. Shakespeare is working on a new comedy, Romeo and Ethel, the Pirate's Daughter. Suffering from writer's block, he has barely begun the play, but starts auditioning players. Viola de Lesseps, the daughter of a wealthy merchant who has seen Shakespeare's plays at court, disguises herself as "Thomas Kent" to audition, then runs away. Shakespeare pursues Kent to Viola's house and leaves a note with the nurse, asking Thomas Kent to begin rehearsals at the Rose. He sneaks into the house with the minstrels playing that night at the ball, where her parents are arranging her betrothal to Lord Wessex, an impoverished aristocrat. While dancing with Viola, Shakespeare is struck speechless, and after being forcibly ejected by Wessex, uses Thomas Kent as a go-between to woo her. Wessex also asks Will's name, to which he replies that he is Christopher Marlowe."
A very interesting take on Shakespeare life that I happened to enjoy. I hated dislike Gwyneth Paltrow and Ben Afleck but Joseph Fiennes was stellar as Shakespeare. He made this movie came alive, his version of Shakespeare seemed so real. I also enjoyed Geoffrey Rush who played a fool that makes you want to laugh every time you see. I suggest this film to those that like British comedy dramas and historical films

Day 177 - Spin Kick (Korean)
"Manseh High School was once famous for their martial arts team, but the those golden days have longed passed. Now, the team is a shell of its former self with just one member Min-Gyu (Hyun-Bin), even remotely having any skills. In two weeks, the National Taekwondo Competition will take place. Coach Koh at Manseh High School demands that the team make it at least to the semi-final round.
Meanwhile, members of the Manseh High School Martial Arts team ride the public bus. On the same bus, the school's notorious gang are also passengers. The gang members then draws a line in the bus and dares anyone to cross the line. Some members of the martial arts team crosses the line and a huge brawl erupts on the bus. The end result is all the martial arts team members are hospitalized and the gang members are taken away by the police. "-AW
Not bad it needs a lot of improvement though. First off Kim Dong-wan is not a good actor in this film, he is mediocre especially standing next to Hyun-bin. A lot of characters were not important, not a whole lot happened and the movie didn't inspire me. The film itself a total mess that wasn't really funny but it was definitely boring. There are a lot of evens in the film that didn't need to happen but the director or whoever just randomly put them there. I would suggest this film to people that like Korean films.

Day 176 - Hell (German/Swedish)
"The film tells the story of a group of survivors in post-apocalyptic Germany in the year 2016, when solar flares have destroyed the earth's atmosphere and temperatures have risen by 10°C. Marie, her little sister Leonie, and Phillip head for the mountains, where rumor has it that water can still be found."
An okay post-apocalyptic film but there's not a lot that happens in the film. It is quite anticlimactic and I wouldn't suggest this film to anyone but post apocalyptic film fans. There's not much you can salvage from this movie. Although I do like the general concept, they failed to use it in a good way.

Day 175 - Janie Jones (American)
"A 13-year old girl is abandoned by her meth-addicted former-groupie mother, after she informs Ethan Brand, an alcoholic, on-the-road, fading rock star, that Janie is his daughter, and he is not happy about it."
A decent film that could have been so much better. I do enjoy the concept but the delivery of said "concept" was poorly executed. Abigail Breslin proves to be the most actor in the film and it is nice to see her growing up as an actress. She out stages everyone in the film despite everyone else's decades of experience. I will suggest this film to those that like Abigail Breslin and films about a father and daughter.

Day 174 - Mr. Morgan's Last Love (french/german)
"The film centres around a retired, widowed professor (Caine) living in Paris who develops a special relationship with a younger French woman (Poésy).["
horrible film, the best acting was from Michael Caine. Everyone else did a very poor job especially the main actress who had a huge role. I didn't really like the storyline and the way the characters developed. The film is very boring, I will not suggest this one to anyone!

Day 173 - The Returned (Spainsh/Canadian)
"In the 1980s, a zombie plague spreads worldwide and causes the deaths of an estimated 100 million people. An unprecedented amount of research goes into finding a cure, but the resulting medicine requires a daily doses to be effective. If the infected miss even a single dose, they quickly and irrevocably degenerate to a feral state. As the formula can only be extracted from dead feral zombies, there are constant rumors that the supplies will run out. Infected humans, called "the returned", are subject to discrimination and violence from bigoted and fearful humans."
A decent thriller if you're in the mood for a slow paced boring film. There is a message in the film but its not fully expressed in the film. There are a few holes in the plot that I find distracting. I won't suggest you watch this film unless you are having a boring night.

Day 172 - Oldboy (2013- American)
"In 1993, alcoholic advertising executive Joe Doucett (Josh Brolin) ruins a meeting with a potential client, Daniel Newcombe (Lance Reddick), by hitting on his girlfriend. Afterwards, Joe gets drunk, and goes to a bar owned by his friend Chucky (Michael Imperioli), who refuses him entry. While stuck outside, he spots a woman with a yellow umbrella, before being knocked unconscious."
A horrible film with only a few interesting aspects. I think that Josh Brolin was a good choice for this remake but he wasn't used to his full capabilities. This is not a spike lee film, he's never done a film like this before. He played it safe, the killing was nice but not as gruesome or as realistic as in the original film. I like the addition of Chucky, the friend which is probably one of the only good things in the film. I hate most of the casting choice like Samuel L. Jackson for the role of the warden, it really didn't fit. The script was horrible, the plot could have been better and the acting was not as good as you would expect from a movie directed by Spike Lee. I suggest that you don't watch this film and only watch the original Korean version.
