Day 339 - The Stool Pigeon (Hong Kong/Chinese)

The Stool Pigeon poster.jpg

"Don Lee (Nick Cheung), a police detective in Kowloon whose reliance on informants leaves him struggling with a guilty conscience. Lee's previous stool pigeon's cover was blown and was attacked, leading him paranoid and driven from his wife and home. Lee begins to doubt his own methods. Lee recruits a street racer named Ghost (Nicholas Tse) as his latest stool pigeon who is assigned to infiltrate a gang led by the notorious armed robber Barbarian (Lu Yi). Ghost accepts Lee's offer so he can rescue his sister from a life of prostitution as well as help his father's one-million dollar debt"

This movie had  a lot of potential but sizzles out early on. It was Nice to see Nick Cheung play a good guy but I felt like his character was underdeveloped as most of the characters were. His situation with his wife also seemed quite rushed and at times seemed almost un-necessary until the very end. Nicholas Tse did a great job as well but there needed to be more depth. It was a surprise to see Gwen Lun-Mei in the movie but it was a nice surprise as she is a wonderful actress. I'm sad to say that I have seen a lot better movies from Dante Lam than this one. I suggest you only watch this is you like whose in it.
