Day 58 - Riddick (American)

"Five years after The Chronicles of Riddick, Riddick has become increasingly uneasy in his role as Lord Marshall of the Necromonger fleet. His refusal to swear into the Necromonger faith has caused dissent among his subjects. Riddick strikes a deal with Commander Vaako; the location of Furya and a ship to take him there, in exchange for Vaako becoming the next Lord Marshall. Led by Vaako's aide, Krone, Riddick and a group of Necromongers arrive on a desolate planet. Recognizing it is not Furya, Riddick kills most of his escort when they attempt to assassinate him. In the chaos, Krone causes a landslide and buries Riddick alive."

What a wonderful film in the Riddick line and happens to be my favorite in a way. It was funny and interesting to see Riddick go back to the man he truly is in this film. Even after the gap between the chronicles and this Riddick Vin Diesel commands this character well. I love how they wrote that in the storyline, it was quite interesting to watch play out.
This film has many funny scenes or in other words, many scenes where Riddick is very funny and shows us that famous humor.
Though I wish they picked a better girl to be Riddick's "girl" or target.

Day 57 - Planet of the Apes (American-1968)

3.5/5

"The film tells the story of an astronaut crew who crash-land on a strange planet in the distant future. Although the planet appears desolate at first, the surviving crew members stumble upon a society in which apes have evolved into creatures with human-like intelligence and speech. The apes have assumed the role of the dominant species and humans are mute creatures wearing animal skins."

A true classic American film that is better than any of the remakes. This film is said to have allegory's of the Vietnam War, Civil Rights Moments, and few others. The 1960's was a troubled time and there are many violent events. That can be seen in the film but in allegory form. I can't take you what the film is saying, that's up to you. I will tell you that this film is very good and deserves a watch.
Nova (the female human) is quite attractive and is very interesting how she acts around Taylor.

Day 56 - Millennium Actress (Japan)

"A movie studio is being torn down. TV interviewer Genya Tachibana has tracked down its most famous star, Chiyoko Fujiwara, who has been a recluse since she left acting some 30 years ago. Tachibana delivers a key to her, and it causes her to reflect on her career; as she's telling the story, Tachibana and Kyoji Ida, his long-suffering cameraman are drawn in. The key was given to her as a teenager by a painter and revolutionary that she helped to escape the police. She becomes an actress because it will make it possible to track him down, and she spends the next several decades acting out that search in various genres and eras"

A truly beautiful animation film from the late Satoshi Kon, it grabbed me by the heart towards the end of the film. It saddens me that I didn't watch this when I was younger and when Satoshi Kon was still alive. It is truly a great film if you like Japanese animation and are not looking for a simple action movie. This film is unique but it has Satoshi Kon's signature move of blending reality with fantasy. He does it in a way that you are not bothered by it. This film is truly interesting and its a story only he could direct without making it corny. I hope to buy this film eventually when I get enough money, I want to have it in my personal collection.
Go out there and see this movie (and please not online!)

Day 55- Two Cops (South Korean 1993 film)

"The experienced detective Jo has a new partner, Kang who recently graduated from the Police Academy at the top of the class. The idealistic Kang always sticks to his principles and often conflicts with Jo, an amoral cop who always tries to take advantage of his position. Kang tries to win Jo over to his side, but fails. One day, a beautiful woman who works in a bar comes to the police station for help, and Kang falls in love with her. He starts going to the bar often to see her, and begins to become more like Jo. Jo is initially pleased at this, but later begins to experience a dilemma with Kang's change in attitude."

Not the best buddy cop film I've seen but it's not too bad. The relationship between the two cops were funny at times but seems so staged that is wasn't actually a good show. There's action but not much nor was there a lot of police work going on. It was plain ridiculous at times but it has some good moments. Like the end (just kidding), though I was happy with the ending and I do consider it the best part of the movie. It seemed predictable it was also like the Rookie with Clint Eastwood and Charlie Sheen.

Day 54 - No Mercy for the Rude (South Korea)

"
Killa (Shin Ha-Kyun) is a hired assassin who is also mute by choice. As a child he grew up in an orphanage and spoke with a lisp. Since that time Killer has never spoken. He spends his free time alone, watching bullfights on TV and eating seafood.
Killa has decided to get surgery to correct his speech impediment. To pay for the operation Killa is taking on hits, but he will only kill those that are rude and nasty. He then meets a bar girl (Yun Ji-Hye) who comes in and out of his life as she wishes. Killa also takes in a street kid (Kang-san) and the three of them become an informal family.
Killa's life seems to be headed on the right track, but the last hit job turns his life upside down. "

What appears to be an action comedy in the beginning actually touches the dark side of the world. Forget the silliness in the beginning, this film will take a darker side. Which is somewhat unexpected but appreciated as it made a better film. This almost seamless action, comedy, romance that seems to be a tract only found in South Korean films makes wonderful films. I suggest this film to anyone that likes seeing the darker side of South Korea. Shin Ha-Kyun does a good job but Yun Ji-Hye truly showed off her acting skills.

Day 53 - Confucius (2010 Chinese Film)

"The film begins with Confucius as an old man, thinking back. Then we see him in his early 50s, being promoted from Mayor to Minister for Law in his home state of Lu. He is confronted with ethical issues after saving a slave-boy who was due to be buried alive with his former master who has just died. There is a lot of complex politics and war, ending with Confucius being rejected and becoming a wandering scholar. After many hardships and losses, he is invited back as an old man. We see him finally preparing the Spring and Autumn Annals, expecting that this book will determine his future influence."

I'm a fan of Chow Yun-Fat since I first saw him in one of his first American films (Bulletproof Monk). He is a great actor, he proves it in this film as Confucius. If you want to know about Confucius I would suggest watching this film. It is quite interesting and never dull. The director did a great job but might have been better to see the much earlier life of Confucius and not just what happened to him in the later stages of his life.
There is no other actor that really stands out, that could be because the film is about Confucius and you can definitely tell he's the main focus point through the while film.

Day 52 - Art Muesum by the Zoo (South Korea)

"On leave from the military, Cheol-soo arrives at his girlfriend's apartment only to find it occupied by another woman, Choon-hee. After a few days he finds out that his girlfriend is now engaged to someone else, and having nowhere else to go he ends up staying with Choon-hee. At first the two struggle to get along, but before long Chul-soo discovers that she is writing a screenplay to enter into a competition, and they end up working on a story together based on their own experiences of love, titling it 'Art Museum by the Zoo'."

Not bad but no where near as good as it could have. It seemed short and there wasn't much depth, most of it takes place in the girl's apartment and cutaway scenes which depicts the story they are writing. Honestly at times it can be seen as boring, I tried my best to stay interested but this film failed to do anything for me. The acting could have been better, I didn't reach an emotional connection with the characters. The ending also was preditable to the point of cliché, it was very entertaining either.

Day 51 - Mr. Socrates (South Korea)

"Asking for money to his father imprisoned in jail, threatening a friend who became a murderer by mistake, stealing money from his friends…KU Dong-hyuk (Kim Rae-won) is the worst scumbag you can ever imagine. Living a low-life like a street dog, one day, Dong-hyuk gets kidnapped by a mysterious gang. Being captured out of no reason, the gang trains Dong-hyuk in a secret and inhumane way repeatedly. Dong-hyuk tries to escape but fails, which makes the training more harsh and cruel than before. After finishing all the training, the gang orders Dong-hyuk to become a police detective as their secret connection"

A very interesting film, there was some comedy but there was also a seriousness to the film. Though the torture scenes could have been less comical but they still manage to make the tortures interesting. Kim Rae-won is an interesting actor, he makes it fun to see how he's characters develop. He might start out as a bastard but becomes an great person through being a true police officer.

Day 50 - Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1956-American)

"The story depicts an extraterrestrial invasion of a small California town. The invaders replace human beings with duplicates that appear identical on the surface but are devoid of any emotion or individuality. A local doctor uncovers what is happening and tries to stop them"

A thriller at its core, it could be seen as a metaphor for the Red Scare, or an Anti McCarthy hearing film (Don't know what that is, dust off your American history textbook) but its determined by the viewer. Despite the fact that the director says he did not make the film out to be a metaphor for something. He just wanted to create a thriller and that's what he did.

It is not a bad film for a black and white 1956 sci-fi film, there's romance, hopelessness, hysteria, etc. It was entertaining despite the fact it was only 80 minutes long, it was better than the 1978 remake of it. The director Don Siegel also directed several early Clint Eastwood films like Coogan's Bluff, Two Mules for Sister Sara, The beguiled, and Dirty Harry. You won't see a hint of anything related to those movies in this film or vice versa. I like him as a director, he knows what he is doing sometimes.

They don't make films like this anymore

Day 49 - Mutt Boy (South Korean)

"Chul-min's family consists of himself, his police detective father, his sick mother, and a dog. Chul-min calls the dog "Mutt" or "Stray Dog," but his father calls Chul-min "Mutt" too. The dog is Chul-min's best friend. He doesn't cry when his mom dies, but he does get furious when his dog is eaten by the older boys in his soccer club. He takes his revenge, but his father's patrol car awaits him. Although he now must live on his own, Chul-min wins renown as the one who beat up 21 people all by himself. Many of the town's thugs start to hang around Chul-min, fascinated by him, and he becomes a leader of small-time gangsters. One day his father takes in a young orphan named Jung-ae who was a thief. Eventually Chul-min and Jung-ae develop feelings each other and Chul-min confronts the gang who killed his beloved dog."

The cast did a good job at acting but it failed with the direction as the film was directed the director of "friend". It is a comical film that the lead actor does wonderful in despite his more serious roles. I would watch this if you like the main actor and want to watch a sill story.

Day 48 - Escape Plan (American)

A decent film for such great action stars, the director and storyline could have been better. Stallone and Schwarzenegger this is a partnership that was just wanting to happen on a full scale. So why was this film a bitter disappointment. You would suspect that there would be a lot of action but you're wrong there. Though I have to say Arnold's acting and English is a thousand times better than when he starting acting. He is almost a perfect match for Stallone, but this film fails to realize this. Also Jim Caviezel did a wonderful job, this is the best acting I've seen from him. I just wish this was more action themed with a better storyline. I mean come on you have two of the greatest action stars and you barely let them kick ass.

If you think I'm wrong, this film was directed by Mikael Håfström the director of The Rite and 1408. So he really hasn't done anything great, what a let down.

Day 47 - Pained (South Korea)

"Debt collector Nam-soon (Kwon Sang-woo) lost his sense of pain after a traumatic accident during his youth, and now regularly takes beatings for his job. Street vendor Dong-hyun (Jung Ryeo-won) suffers from severe hemophilia, a disorder that impedes the body's ability to stop bleeding. For Dong-hyun, even the most minor of injuries could be deadly. She's left homeless after Nam-soon collects the last of her money, so he decides to take her in. As the two grow closer, Nam-soon suddenly begins to lose his lifelong insensitivity to pain and the hurt of a lifetime washes over him. Together, these two lonely souls learn to hurt and hope again..."

Not bad but could have been so much better. It lacks the emotional feelings we get when we see this kind of films. That's not surprising since this film has the same director as Friend. Kwon Sang-woo did a good job but his character wasn't expressed enough and Jung Ryeo-won doesn't actual go through any development. It feels like this was the debut of some director rather than a film from an experience director.

Day 46 - Now you see me (French/American)

"Four gifted street magicians—J.Daniel Atlas,Merritt McKinney,Henley Reeves,Jack Wilder—are brought together by an unknown benefactor and, one year later, perform in Las Vegas as "The Four Horsemen", sponsored by insurance magnate Arthur Tressler. For the finale, a member of the audience is invited to help them in their next trick: robbing a bank. That audience member is Étienne Forcier, an account holder at the Crédit Républicain de Paris. Forcier is apparently teleported to his bank in Paris, where he activates an air-duct that vacuums up the money and showers it onto the crowd in Las Vegas".

Not bad really I was impressed with what they did with this film though I have a problem with Jesse Eisenberg. I can't really see him as a serious actor and seems to play the same character with some of the kind comebacks. It's nice to see woody, he's really and the better actor out of the four. I'm not a fan of David Franco, I don't like him as an actor but with three people to back him up. He doesn't do that bad in this film.
There was some problems with the direction and how everything was played out. Though the tricks really were cool to see, I can't wait to see the sequel though I hope it's better.

Day 45 - Man of tai Chi (chinese/American)

"Tiger Chen is the sole student of his elderly master's Ling Kong Tai Chi style. Whilst Tiger excels in the physical aspects of his training, his master struggles to instill in him the philosophical aspects, and fears for his character. Tiger harbours a determined ambition to prove the martial effectiveness of the style, as he competes in the local Wulin contest.
When the mysterious Donaka Mark (Keanu Reeves) offers him a "security" job, Tiger seizes the chance to escape his tedious day job as a courier, but when he discovers that the "job" is to become a paid contestant in an underground fighting ring, he refuses to compromise his honour by fighting for money. However, he quickly relents when he discovers that his master's 600-year-old temple faces a demolition order, and realises that Donaka's money is his only hope of saving the temple."

This is Keanu Reeves debut as a director and I have to say..not bad. It's not great but its entertaining. I have never seen tai chi used in this way and was quite an interesting take on the martial art known for it's health reasons. Tiger chen's acting was not bad but his acting could have been better. Meanwhile Keanu Reeves definitely knew what kind of character he wanted to play and I think he played it well.
The fighting were interesting and fun to watch but could have been more. Though to give credit they had to film the fighting scenes with handheld cameras thanks to technical limitations.
There is a little romance like you would suspect but it's nothing that big and she doesn't make a lot of appearances in the film though she does play a good character.

I wouldn't mind seeing another Keanu Reeves movie

P.S. This film was inspired by Keanu Reeves' friend Tiger Chen who is a stuntman

Happily, Ever After (Japan)

"A hopeless woman and a hopeless man.
A woman that loves the man whatever happens, and a man that can't exactly express his feelings and just turns over the table - out of irritation, short temper, and sometimes love. Would being together become a nightmare, or a love that will sustain them to live with happiness and hope for a better tomorrow? "

A really funny romantic comedy, though it does get bizarre at some points in the film. There really isn't that much depth, they tried but the seriousness of some of the events didn't have quite a punch because they were laced with comedy. It's not a film to take to seriously though it does have some good moments, I don't think I'll watch it again. But to me it was way better than any other romantic comedy I've seen from Japan.

Day 43 - L Change the World (Japan)

This is the third film that I've seen that is the live adaption of a manga. It was pretty good, I like Kenichi Matsuyama he is amazing as L. I have read the manga so I know what happens to all the character's especially Kira and L. I actually like L, it saddens me about his demise.  (so did Kira's but he doesn't appear in this film). Maki and Near seem to be smart and provide L with something he didn't have. It was quite funny to see L's character being acted out by a live person in a film.
Truly cool if you liked the manga or anime and want to see more of L.

Day 42 - Thor: The Dark World (American)

"Eons ago, Bor, the father of Odin, clashes with the Dark Elf Malekith, who seeks to destroy the universe using a weapon known as the Aether. After conquering Malekith's forces, including enhanced warriors called the Kursed, on their home world of Svartalfheim, Bor safeguards the Aether within a stone column. Unbeknownst to Bor, Malekith, his lieutenant Algrim, and a handful of Dark Elves escape into suspended animation. In present-day Asgard, Loki stands imprisoned for his war crimes on Earth. Meanwhile, Thor, alongside warriors Fandral, Volstagg and Sif repel marauders on Vanaheim, home of their comrade Hogun; it is the final battle in a war to pacify the Nine Realms following the reconstruction of Bifröst, the "Rainbow Bridge" between realms, which had been destroyed two years earlier. The Asgardians soon learn that the Convergence, a rare alignment of the Nine Realms, is imminent; as the event approaches, portals linking the worlds appear at random."

Way better than the original Thor movie, this isn't a soap opera like the last one. The best part about actors playing the same character in more than one movie is that they should be able to make their character and acting believable. Hats off to Tom Hiddleston, he is wonderful as Loki and can't wait to see what else the character will do.
Its rare to say this but there are some moments to the film that might have been better if there were dialogue like when the three our in the enemies ship. Besides that nice job with the script, there's action, romance, comedy from both Darcy and Loki. Though I wish there was more banter between Loki and Thor but I was glad with how many screen time Lioki got

Day 41 - Sunflower (South Korea)

"Years ago, Tae-Sik (Kim Rae-Won) was a feared henchmen for the mob, but after spending 10 years in prison Tae-Sik now only wants to live a normal life. He returns to a place he thinks of as home and to the woman (Kim Hae-Sook) who has looked after him like a mother. Trouble then finds Tae-Sik again, when gangsters want to build a nightclub over the land that Tae-Sik's mother occupies.
Once the gangsters attack Tae-Sik's "adopted" family, Tae-Sik goes after the gangsters with pure vengeance. "

A truly awesome film, I consider it one of the best films I've seen out of Korea. It did not disappoint, it was actually the opposite it was better than I ever thought. Kim Rae-Won was so good in this film, he was believable and interesting the whole movie. It was stellar to his performance throughout of the film. I've so excited after watching this film, I haven't been like this since I saw IP Man 2.
The action sequence at the end was so good, who ever designed it deserves an award and big pat on the back. If you have ever seen The Man From Nowhere, you will most likely enjoy this film.

Can't express how much this made me feel, I felt I was ready to kickass at the end of the film. Kang Seok-Beom did a great job with this film, the script, and the characters especially Tae-Sik were great.
Kim Rae-Won earned my respect with this film, I can't wait to see more of his roles.

Day 40 - My Gangster Like Lover (South Korea)

"University graduate Han Se-jin (Jung Yoo-mi) leaves her hometown, where her conservative father (Min Kyeong-jin) is the local stationmaster, for Seoul, where she has been offered a job in an IT company. Some time later, however, the company goes bankrupt and she's forced to move into a cheap basement flat while job-hunting. Her new neighbor is middle-aged Oh Dong-chul (Park Joong-hoon), a small-time gangster who works for boss Kim (Jeong Woo-hyeok) collecting loans. Se-jin is initially uncomfortable living next door to a gangster but later forms a wary friendship with him after he helps her out a couple of times. Depressed by her inability to get a job because of the economic recession, Se-jin ends up drinking with Dong-chul one evening and having a one-night stand with him. She later asks him to pose as her wealthy boyfriend on a trip home to visit her anxious father — though that doesn't quite go as planned, and Se-jin ends up staying on with her father. Meanwhile, Dong-chul, who has almost started a gang war back in Seoul by beating up some hapkido athletes in revenge, is told by boss Kim to formally apologize to the athletes' boss, former police detective Park (Jeong In-gi). Dong-cheol reluctantly agrees, but that same day Se-jin is due in Seoul for an important job interview."-Wikipedia

It was somewhat worth the watch, it didn't really do a lot with the time it had. I wished that the romance was a little more heavier, there's not a real spark. It could have helped the story to have more depth. I really did like characters, but the lack of direction really dragged this film down.
The ending could have been better as well, it didn't have a lot of impact but it did managed to spark a little emotion from me but it could have been much better.
I love the interactions between the two main characters, they are hilarious at times. Though not enough to make this film one of my favorites or anywhere near my favorite romantic comedies.

day 39 - Friend(South Korea)

"At a time when students had to fasten their collars and crease their slacks till they're razor sharp, these four friends strutted around in their own custom-fashioned uniforms. They walked the streets with their heads held high, shoulders straight, and chests out, fearing nothing when they were together. Joon-suk, a son of a vigilant gang boss; Dong-su, the only son of an undertaker; Sang-taek, a diligent student; Joong-ho, who never keeps his mouth shut. Those are the gang of friends who share their fantasies about naked woman on the porn magazine and their awe at Bruce Lee's Kungfu. Each of their lives takes different turns as they grow up and their paths cross in conflict with each other's. Joon-suk becomes the leading henchman of his father's crime ring and Dong-su is serving for Joon-suk's rival gangs. Sang-taek and Joong-ho find themselves helplessly watching their two best friends wield knives at each other... "

Not bad, its really not as good as I heard. I really didn't like the actor who played Sang-Taek. Though Jang Dong-Gun and Yu Oh-Seung had some good acting moments. It wasn't powerful enough, the emotion or bonds between the friends didn't actually seem that strong. Though it is a good film if you like friendship films. I feel like the script wasn't strong enough and that the fat friend wasn't needed.
It's nice to see a friendship film that didn't center around women or male friends fighting for the same woman so it has that going for.

Day 38 - My Wife is A Gangster 3 (China and South Korea)

"A-ryong, a daughter of a giant Mafia group in Hong Kong, is wrongfully accused for killing the boss of Black Dragon, the biggest rival and is threatened to leave the country. Missing her mother, who had to leave the family for some reason, so deadly, she insists going to Korea, where her mother might be now, until things get settled. Arriving Korea, she is guided by Gi-chul, who is given a mission to protect her by his boss, but it’s not easy for them to get harmonized. Meanwhile, an assassin named Yang-be, is sent to Korea to kill A-ryong and there seems to be no choice for Gi-chul but to take her to his hometown disguising that he’s got a wife. What will happen to this Chinese gangster wife? " -Aw

A really good film that has nothing to do with the last two entries in the series. Though I prefer it that way since I haven't seen one or two. but you don't need to watch them to get this movie. The interaction between Aryong through the translator to Gi-Chul is hilarious almost all of the time.
There's action, romance, mixed with comedy that actually works and can be quite interesting to international audiences.
I am somewhat a fan of Lee Beom-Soo, I have seen several of his movies and his dramas. He is perfect for the role of Gi-Chul. But the real star Shu Qi, is so beautiful I've had a crush on her since I saw her in the Transporter film. Not only is she beautiful she can actually act, she is perfect at more mature roles playing damaged women but she is awesome at playing a badass girl. It is the first time I've seen her in something not so serious, I think she did a great job.

Day 37 - Runway Cop (South Korea)

"Detective Cha (Kang Ji-Hwan) smells bad and is overweight. Nevertheless, he is a devoted cop who always tries his best to catch the bad guys. A new case then arises. Illegal narcotics are infiltrating into the fashion industry and a detective is needed to work undercover as a model. There are only 2 detectives taller than 180 centimeters required to work as a fashion model. One of them is Detective Cha and the other detective walks strangely due to to a hemorrhoidectomy. Detective Cha is selected to go undercover as a male model in designer Ko Young-Jae's (Sung Yu-Ri) next fashion show. Designer Ko Young-Jae tells Detective Cha that he has to lose 20 kilograms in 2 weeks so that he can work as a model in her upcoming show. Detective Cha then goes on a strenuous regiment to lose the weight. "-Awiki

This film is so funny, I didn't think Kang Ji-Hwan would do a good job but he did. This film made me laugh so many times and kept me interested. Though I doubt that many female fans will like the beginning of the film since it shows Kang Ji-Hwan as a overweight detective.  I like Sung Yu-Ri's character, she has some character development that makes the romance side of this film work though I wish there was more romance to help the film especially at the end.
This film was the best comedy I have seen this year, don't worry though the comedy isn't totally out of control like Dead Ball. They really made a successful romantic comedy cop film.

When Yoon-Jung's relationship with her boyfriend turns sour, Yoon-Jung meets Hyun-Seung (Ji Sung), the stranger she had phone sex with. Yoon-Jung falls in love with the man ... "

Truly a unique film that was so interesting, the actors were great. This film is the most erotic one I'm seen from South Korea and one of the best one's I've ever seen. I am a fan of Kim A-Joong she's a good romantic comedy actress.
The other characters were very interesting and funny. Even though this film is about sex, there is a lot of depth in there that you wouldn't expect. It's not fully about sex but the sex was used to entertain us. This film is about freedom in a way as well as the relationships between humans.

"Min-ah (Im Soo-jung) is a young woman who has become reserved and aloof to the world as a result of her chronic illness and deformed hand. The film quietly portrays the unconventional, yet endearing relationship between Min-ah and her mother Mi-sook (Lee Mi-sook), as well as Min-ah's development as she is befriended by the high-spirited and carefree photographer Young-jae (Kim Rae-won) who moves into their apartment complex."

Truly a beautiful film, often silly at times but there was real depth in this film. Im Soo-jung did a remarkable job with her acting, so did lee Mi-sook but Im Soo-jung was the better of the two. This film is cute yet tragic it has a great meaning. Don't be expecting a Hollywood, this is a more realistic film. At times its a true tearjerker. True love at it's work though this film does need work.

Day 34 - My Darling is a Foreigner (Japan)

This cute film is about the life of mangaka Saori Oguri and her relationship with Tony Lazlo.

First off it's a cute film, it is especially for people who like cutesy romantic comedies. First off the actor portraying Tony, has displayed some of the best acting of a foreigner in  a Japanese film though he wasn't that good. His character was slightly underwritten while Saori's character was fully developed and could express more than one emotion well.
This is not a film for those looking for a serious film dealing with interracial relationships between Japanese and American people. Though it does go into that a bit but it's more light hearted until towards the end. Even that was under written, let's just say the script might have served better as drama series rather than an actual film.

P.s. Mao Inoue is so cute!

Day 33 - Miracle of Giving Fool (South Korea)

"Ji-ho is a promising pianist, studying and playing abroad for years. But one night she had a stage fright and never recovers. In despair, Ji-ho comes home and meets her old classmate Sung-ryong. Once a very bright boy, Sung-ryong had an accident and now he is in late 20s with the mind of a six year old. He is very forgetful, but he has never forgotten his first love Ji-ho. Other half of Sung-ryong's dumb mind is occupied with his only family younger sister Jee-in. To take care of her, Sung-ryong sells toasts in front of Jee-in's school. But Jee-in is embarrassed of her idiotic brother and ignores him. And Sang-soo is Sung-ryong's old friend who understands Sung-ryong's innocent mind. But he inevitably falls to the world of gangsters. Ji-ho is still in her slump, Jee-in falls sick and Sang-soo gets involved in a bloody dispute. But all of their agonies are miraculously saved by Sung-ryong in a way nobody has forseen. " -idmb

An inspiring film that will make you think, if not something might be wrong with you (or you just don't like the movie but I prefer my first statement). All the actors especially the lead did a great job, he made a believable character. This kind of character is always hard for an actor to portray and is also hard for some movie watchers to believe the character. Although there is comedy, a deeper and darker theme can be found in this film. The film isn't close to being perfect, there are a few character developments I did not like. Since it didn't even show Hie-Young in the end and only briefly showed Ha Ji-Won's character. I wished in some of the final scenes that all the main characters say goodbye together and not just the younger sister. It might have made the scenes building up to the ending, even more powerful.
Ha Ji-Won was wonderful, I love her as an actress. She starred in one of the first Korean Dramas I ever watched (Secret Garden).

Day 32 - How to keep my love (South Korea)

"Hyun-Joo is a 29-year-old woman who believes that she has nothing to show for herself, except a successful relationship with her boyfriend. One day, her boyfriend So-Hoon, who is sweet and gentle, goes to a department store to shop for her and ends up stuck in a broken elevator with the famous, gorgeous movie star Da-Young, who is soon attracted to him for his easygoing and down-to-earth personality... "

Cute but really needs work, as I don't find the ending an actually good one. It really didn't deliver a sentimental punch, instead the director chose to end the film with a clichéd ending you would suspect in a bad American movie.
Nothing really is resolved in the film, so many characters were introduced but that didn't have a whole lot of depth. Even the main actress was so poorly written, I was rooting for the other girl the whole time. I was so disappointed in how this was written, the actors are fine in what they do, but the director definitely  needs to study up his game.

Day 31 - Fortune Salon (south Korea)

Sorry I'm behind, I've been sick.

"Tae-rang (Park Ye-Jin) is gifted clairvoyant who runs a posh fortune telling salon in Cheongdam, Seoul. She helps guide her elite clients on matters of love and life altering choices. Yet fate has it that Tae-rang's personal life is always cursed. All the men that Tae-rang has shown interest have become harmed in one way or another. As a child, Tae-rang's mother, also a clairvoyant, told Tae-rang that she is destined to meet a man born May 16, 1978 at 11 pm before she turns 28."

A very cute romantic comedy from South Korea. It had a few interesting characters, I wished some of them had more time in the film. Don't get me wrong the main couple were okay, they didn't have chemistry but had some great movements together. It was sitting in my Netflix queue for a very long time before I decided to watch it. It's cute but needed something more.
